Maxime Old

Portion of a Conference Table

France, circa 1970-1971

Medium: Wood, anodized iron

Dimensions: 29.5 in x 55.25 in wide x 68.5 (- 92.25) in deep

This elegant, extendable conference table was created by Maxime Old in 1971 for the Port Autonome de Marseille on the Rue Cognacq-Jay. The sophisticated piece is remarkable for its forms -- its broad, square, wooden top,  its nimble, airy base of shimmering, anodized aluminum, and the lower level of wood shelving this base partially hides.
