Thierry Despont was best-known for his very successful architectural practice—but he was also an accomplished artist. Some of his most interesting works are a series of sculptures fashioned out of found—often industrial or farm—tools or components. Ranging from small, table top creations to large-scale works suitable for the outdoors, these typically take nature as their subject, and are often representations of either insects or fantastical, almost alien creatures.

Says Benoist F. Drut of Maison Gerard:  "Talented fisherman Thierry embarked one day on immortalizing his catch; that led to a series of beautiful watercolors and sculpture.  This one in particular is rather substantial, and is another great example of the Renaissance Man that he was."
