Two parallel bands of patinated bronze curve sinuously to the floor and are supported from behind to form the frame for a textured side table that can easily be tucked in beside a sofa. The interior curve is embellished with cast dragon heads, a touch of sculptural whimsy that recalls the Chinoiserie of the past. The dragon here is not merely aesthetic, but symbolic, signifying supernatural power, wisdom, strength, hidden knowledge, courage, and, last but not least, good luck.
