Laura Kirar - Designers & Artists - Maison Gerard

Laura Kirar, the founder and creative director of Laura Kirar Design, is an internationally renowned interior and product designer. It is her mission to foster artistic exploration in all of her endeavors and to inspire others with authentic art, craft, and design from around the globe.

Under her experienced direction, her team creates elegant, innovative interiors and home and lifestyle products with a timeless sensibility reflecting her deep respect for craft, history, and innovation. Projects ranging from high-end residences to award-winning commercial interiors, restaurants, showrooms, and hotels populate the Kirar portfolio.

The Laura Kirar brand has created strong licensing partnerships with the design industry’s most sought-after companies, producing a full range of home products (from tile and bath fixtures to seating, lighting, textiles, rugs, and decorative accessories) for the likes of Ann Sacks, Arteriors Home, Baker Furniture, Barlow Tyrie, Boyd Lighting, Carnegie Fabrics, David Edward Company, Dennis Miller Associates, HighlandCourt/Duralee Textiles, Ilex Lighting, Kallista Company, Tuohy Contract Furniture, Tufenkian Carpets, and McGuire Furniture (for which Kirar created the bestselling chair in the company’s history).  Her newest is a groundbreaking Mayan-inspired collection for Samuel & Sons Passementerie.

Recently, in pursuit of her own artistic enrichment, and driven by her desire to positively affect the economic future of indigenous craft, Kirar began a period of independent study, traveling to Mexico to learn about traditional materials & techniques. During this period of inspiring research and collaboration with celebrated Mexican artisans Kirar produced beautiful examples of what she calls “the marriage of modern design with traditional technique.” The Laura Kirar Limited Edition Collection was born of this experience, first launching at the DOCE18 Concept Store in San Miguel de Allende and later on Kirar’s own online shops.

Kirar holds a degree in sculpture and interior architecture from the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her passion for artistic exploration in numerous mediums has continued to infuse her work with originality and thoughtful attention to detail. Her extensive world travels and extended stay in Mexico are powerful influences on each project Kirar undertakes. Laura Kirar has made an indelible mark on the design industry as a creator, patron, collector, and connector.

Laura Kirar’s designs have been profiled in many top print and web publications including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Interior Design, Interiors, Metropolitan Home,  New York Spaces, Space, Self, Veranda, Vogue Living, Women’s Wear Daily, W, Time Magazine, Wallpaper, New York Magazine, and The New York Times.
