Marc Bankowsky

A designer and decorator for the past 20 years, Marc Bankowsky creates uniquely beautiful furniture and accessories. He custom designed a set of furniture and accessories for the Haute Couture Christian Dior Boutique, Avenue Montaigne, Paris, designed by Peter Marino. He has also designed accessories for the famous restaurateur Pierre Gagnaire, which included the Ginkgo leaf candlesticks, and was commissioned to create a collection of limited edition objects for Baccarat.

Marc has exhibited in France and was recently shown in Beijing and Shanghai in an exhibition called: Awakening: La France Mandarine. His work was first introduced in America in the fall of 2006 by Maison Gerard Ltd at The Seventh Regiment Armory (Park Avenue (at 67th Street, NYC). Roberta Smith, in her
"Art review" of the show on October 6, 2006, commented on his work: "For single-object encounters, Marc Bankowsky's eerie folding screen in the form of draped sheets at Maison Gérard".

Marc studied at L’école Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) & The Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Art and currently resides in Burgundy, France. His former townhouse in the Pigalle area of Paris was featured in Paris. Design du Monde, by Herbert Ypma. Photographed by the Stoeltis.
