Niamh Barry often says that her sculptures are drawings in bronze and light. Inspired by natural beauty, her work transcends utility. She strives, above all else, to achieve striking visual balance, movement, and proportion. Her process is visceral, labored (this piece alone took over 1200 hours to complete), and allows her instinct to speak. Her pieces are thus experienced similarly—with emotion rather than contemplation alone.

Of the work, the artist says: "I wanted to express the soft, organic contours of the female form—tender, and elemental. Light does not merely reflect from its surface, but is gently embraced by its curves, held within its form as if nurtured. I wanted to evoke a sense of sanctuary in its shape, evoking the womb—a place of origin and protection and for the piece to be both grounding and luminous, inviting the viewer to pause, reflect, and connect with the primal nature of the work."
