This elegant floor lamp, a design from the early 1930s by Jules Leleu, features a tapered stem in walnut--a long vertical element that unites the complementary shapes of the lamp's playful feet and unusually modern chrome-plated diffuser.

Referenced as Floor Lamp no. 1987 in Leleu's Livre des création (1932)
