A perfect illustration of the Modernist dictum form follows function, the EB 27 STL lamp boasts an exceptionally fluid counterweight system that, together with articulated joints and rotatable light fixture, enables the lamp to be angled effortlessly in all directions. A version of the lamp was exhibited alongside Lucien Rollin's Technician's Desk at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs in 1929 where it gained fame, becoming a popular lamp through the 1930s and frequently included in designs by Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, and other 20th Century design luminaries. The name is apparently derived from the designer's initials and the year in which he filed his patents for the lamp's parts.
