Upton created his "Creatures" series to muddy preconceived boundaries between classic and contemporary design. Each piece is, moreover, a sculpture--its function as a table almost an aside, if not a happy coincidence. Upton appropriates ideas from the past and mixes them with the cutting edge in the creation of his pieces--producing a series sometimes whimsical but always the result of the highest quality of materials and craftsmanship.
